2020 Update from Funker: If you’re looking for a veteran community to hang out with, or want to ask Funker any questions, we stream Escape From Tarkov live Mon-Fri, 1-6EST at https://FB.gg/FunkerGaming. After a few years of disabling Funker530 on YouTube due to community guideline strikes and threats of being shutdown, I have decided to re-activate it instead of leaving it dormant. New footage will be uploaded every Friday moving forward. Daily military news and combat footage can always be found at https://Funker530.com.
If you would like to ask me any questions, or join our veteran community on Twitch, I stream live Mon-Fri at https://twitch.tv/Funker. You’ll find that most people in chat are veterans, and it’s a chill place to hang out for a few hours each day if you feel like connecting with other vets. You can also join our discord at https://discord.gg/PSFhuxB
This video is one of the best historical compilations showing what it was like for guys in special operations units in the early days of the Iraq war. Based on the uniforms and scenes from the famous raid on Samara’s Golden Mosque during Operation Baton Rouge, the actual content of the video is likely from 2004 and highlights who we believe is 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group.
The video itself is edited into hypnotizing perfection with seemingly endless flash bangs, door kicks, and gate rams, as Green Berets and their host nation counterparts conduct near-constant high-intensity raids to capture or kill high value targets.
The 5th SFG(A) saw extensive action in the Vietnam War and played a pivotal role in the early months of Operation Enduring Freedom. 5th Group—as it is sometime called—is designed to deploy and execute nine doctrinal missions: unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, direct action, counter-insurgency, special reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, information operations, counterproliferation of weapon of mass destruction, and security force assistance. As of 2016, the 5th SFG(A) is primarily responsible for operations within the CENTCOM area of responsibility as part of the Special Operations Command, Central (SOCCENT). The 5th SFG(A) specializes in operations in the Middle East, Persian Gulf, Central Asia and the Horn of Africa (HOA). The 5th SFG(A) and two of its battalions spend roughly six months out of every twelve deployed to Iraq as Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Arabian Peninsula.
